New Tricks Pet is my personal, home-based animal-services business in Cheyenne, Wyoming. I want to understand the animal you live with and the life you're trying to manage around them. The useful details are often ordinary ones: where your dog rests, what happens when someone arrives, and which parts of the day are hardest.

My approach starts with management. Gates, distance, and resting spaces can make a situation safer and more comfortable while an animal is learning. From there, I use positive reinforcement to teach a useful alternative, such as moving to a mat when the door opens. The steps need to be manageable for the animal and for the person who has to carry them out.
Experience with more than one kind of learner
I've earned titles with dogs, cats, and rats. Working with different animals is a useful reminder to notice what the learner is doing, what the surroundings are asking of them, and whether the next step is small enough. I pay attention to comfort and safety throughout that process.
Training and safety background
I've earned the Certified Trick Dog Instructor credential through Do More with Your Dog, which has also named me trainer of the year. I've also completed American Red Cross dog and cat first-aid training. That background supports my emphasis on noticing what an animal needs and making practical decisions about safety.
